Facebook Hates Us!

I've been absent, concentrating on orders and trying to pull out some new items.  I have to hop on here real quick in the hopes of getting my followers attention though.  Facebook implemented some major (really freakin horrible) changes today and as far as I can tell, my wonderful fans aren't seeing my status updates and such.

If you wouldn't mind, take a moment and let me know if you are seeing my stuff come up in your news feed.  I posted a handful of OOAK Limited Edition items this evening and had a flash sale but unfortunately I don't think the message got out to the fans.

I'm trying to see if there is any other way of getting the word out.

Updates

Hello all!  Are you enjoying my new blog look?  I kinda totally love it lol.

I haven't been on top of the blog like I should, I'm going to try and get better about that :)  There's so many places to update this one gets forgotten some times.

I have added an order list to the facebook page so customers can see where they fall on the to-do list.  I'm excited to be so busy that I need that!  If you are waiting for an order, take a peek there and you can see how far along your order is.

Handmade Gift Exchange Part 1

I was so busy with the giveaways I forgot to mention that I was participating in the summers Handmade Gift Exchange, put together by Linda of Craftaholics Annonymous!  This was my first time participating and in a strange twist of events I ended up with 2 partners :)  I hadn't heard from my first so Linda paired me up with another crafter, after which I heard back from my original partner.  I didn't mind in the least and kept both of my awesome parters :)

The whole idea behind this event is that you get paired up with a new buddy somewhere in another part of the country.  Then you get to know each other a bit and each partner makes and sends a gift to the other.  It's so exciting to see all the amazing things that people have gifted to each other!

So without further ado....

One of my partners, Heather, lives in Cali and loves bright colors and rainbow colors.  My first idea was a market bag, however I was having big issues with the pattern I'd chosen being incorrect in several spots so I ditched that plan and decided to make something she could use around the house.  I came up with the idea to make her a set of coasters with some really awesome rainbow cotton I found.  I personally am totally in love with these and almost shed a little tear as I sealed the envelope to go off to its new home!  I plan on making myself a set as soon as I have some free time!

I hope she likes them!

My other partner was Wendy in Washington.  She and I had something very important in common, we both love the color PURPLE!  She also mentioned after browsing my shop and facebook page that she had a thing for owls and really liked my owl hats.  Easy Peasy!  I whipped her up and adult size owl hat :)  I made it a white owl with purple and green (her second fave color) accents and I really like how it turned out.  My pictures really stink because it was late and night with bad lighting. 

I had so much fun with this, I can't wait until November to do it again!

Pumpkin Creek Hats (aka Heartstrings by Dee) constantly amazes me with the things she pulls off her wheel.  Hand dyed and spun, her thick and thin yarn is a dream to work with.  Those huge puffs make for the softest little baby hats, like little clouds for their heads lol.  I recently acquired some of her single ply yarn as well and it is just as fabulous!!  You cannot go wrong with something from her shop.

Hurricane Hooks: Store

Hurricane hooks is owned by a very talented man named David, who hails from my own home state of Ohio!  I stumbled upon him last fall on Etsy and practically cleared him out of his stock of beautifully hand crafted wooden crochet hooks.  I think I have 3 or 4 so far...seriously I've lost track...and hope to someday have an entire collection.  I love the feel of a wooden hook, its warms to your hand and is a bit more pliable than a standard aluminum hook.

Hoot If You're Cute Owl Hat

Things That Make Me Go OOH!

A picture is worth a thousand words...if you know what you are looking at! Let me fill you in on the awesomeness that is the above picture. These nifty little gadgets are crochet hooks, Clover brand Crochet Lite hooks to be exact, and I am the proud owner of one now!

While picking up some yarn at Hobby Lobby this morning, I meandered down the aisle that houses the hooks and miscellaneous doodads that knitters and crocheters use, and what did my little eye spy for me? These hooks!!! IN STOCK AND ON THE SHELF! I've heard from other hookers about these amazing hooks that light up on the end but had yet to find them in stores anywhere. My first though was...'will I really be able to work in the dark?' until I realized the real point of these, to light up dark colored yarns to make it easier to see your stitches and less stressful on the eyes. AMAZING I TELL YOU!

If you've ever had to make something in black yarn you know that it can be darn impossible to catch those loops sometimes if your light is slightly less than perfectly lit. As most of my work is done at night after the kids go to bed (and I do not currently own an OTT light) this might just be the answer to all my frustration.

I purchased an H sized hook as that is what I primarily use (I now own 6 H hooks with this addition) and what do you know, its the purple one! How's that for icing on the cake. I am anxiously awaiting nap time for the kiddos so I can try it out. I was a bit unsure for the simple fact that the tip is acrylic but after a little test run I found that the yarn moved pretty smooth over it so now I'm just plain excited!

I will (hopefully) have a new hat to debut this afternoon. I just need to get some pictures taken. So that's my little news for now!
